As already reported, losing weight also has its downsides if it is exaggerated, as the current article from BILD today shows.
If the skin is sagging, the measures to increase volume no longer help or no longer help alone.
Whenever skin is sagging, it must be lifted because there is no elasticity left.
So a face lift is the right solution here.
This is often misunderstood as if the entire face has to be tightened.
However, there are different variants, from mini to extended, whereby even individual problem areas can be treated. (See website)
So how do I determine whether my skin is still elastic or already sagging?
Medically correct: turgor test or skin turgor test – this is how it works:
Take a fold of skin (e.g. on the back of the hand, forearm or stomach) between two fingers and pull it up slightly. if the skin immediately smoothes out again, the elasticity (and usually also the hydration) is normal.
If the skin returns slowly or remains stationary, this indicates reduced elasticity – often due to ageing, dehydration or weak connective tissue.
In aesthetics, the skin elasticity test is sometimes referred to as the “snap test” – especially in a cosmetic or dermatological context.
