I was able to experience a nasal septum operation on myself at an early age and the associated health odyssey.<\/p>\n

After years of complaints due to a sports accident as a 16-year-old<\/strong> – it was a broken nose<\/em> – I started to have more and more problems. Inflammation of the sinuses, headaches, tiredness because I simply couldn’t breathe on one side.<\/p>\n

When I had the slightest cold attack, my nose would close completely and my throat would ache in the morning because I always had to breathe through my mouth. Super! And the girlfriend didn’t think it was so great either because of the disturbance at night….<\/p>\n

Operation according to the usual method at the time<\/h2>\n

It was only when I heard about the subject in the ENT lectures that I took up the offer of our professor at the time and had a nose operation myself.<\/p>\n

This was done by an assistant using a method that was common at the time. When my friends visited me in the clinic, they didn’t recognize me at first.<\/p>\n

My head was very swollen, blue and green and I looked horrible. At the time, pulling out the tamponade scared me more than the nose operation itself.<\/p>\n

It took a few more weeks before I was back on my feet and the semester break was ruined.<\/p>\n

The procedure didn’t do much good either, as medical aftercare<\/strong> was probably only invented later (ironically meant), the septum bent <\/strong>again, which should not be the goal.<\/p>\n

Years later as an ENT doctor<\/h2>\n

Years later – I was now an ENT specialist<\/em> – and after several surgeries I<\/strong> had performed myself<\/strong> and the symptoms were getting worse and worse again, I decided to approach the whole thing in the same way as I do with my own patients.<\/p>\n

After a thorough examination<\/strong> and clarification of possible allergies<\/strong>, a computer tomogram<\/strong> is examined, which shows me exactly where the problem is anatomically and then determines whether and what exactly needs to be operated on in order to finally get air again. The conchae <\/strong>are also often reduced in size <\/strong>and the sinuses cleaned.<\/p>\n

Such a procedure can even be performed under local anesthesia if there is not too much to do.<\/p>\n

But in general you “sleep completely” (general anesthesia). Depending on the effort involved, the whole procedure takes 20 – 60 minutes, without tamponade! Unless you bleed more than usual.<\/p>\n

Therefore avoid aspirin, alcohol and other blood-thinning substances. If the coagulation is ok and the blood pressure is not elevated, the procedure will certainly not cause any problems.<\/p>\n

Only in the case of problematic candidates is a tamponade placed for one night to be on the safe side, so that there is no severe secondary bleeding.<\/p>\n

Blowing your nose, lifting and pressing, sunbathing, alcohol consumption and sport should be avoided for the next 2 – 3 weeks so that you heal as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

In my case, I had a good colleague so that I could even supervise my practice conversion the next day after the outpatient procedure.<\/p>\n

Some people were amazed, but that works well these days. Minimally invasive technology with state-of-the-art aids make it possible.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n

The risks and side effects of nasal septum<\/strong> correction are manageable<\/strong> and the patient receives a real improvement when modern techniques are used.<\/p>\n

Erfahrungen mit einer Nasenscheidewand OP konnte ich schon fr\u00fch an mir selber machen und eine damit verbundene gesundheitliche Odysee.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nach jahrelangen Beschwerden, aufgrund eines Sportunfalls als 16-J\u00e4hriger<\/strong> - es war eine gebrochene Nase<\/em> - h\u00e4uften sich bei mir die Probleme. Entz\u00fcndungen der Nasennebenh\u00f6hlen, Kopfschmerzen, M\u00fcdigkeit, weil ich schlicht weg auf der einen Seite gar keine Luft mehr bekam.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Bei kleinsten Schnupfenattacken war dann die Nase ganz zu und morgens gab es auch Halsschmerzen, weil ich immer durch den Mund atmen musste. Super! Und die Freundin fand es wegen der n\u00e4chtlichen Ruhest\u00f6rung auch nicht so toll....<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Operation nach damals \u00fcblicher Methode<\/h2>\r\n\r\n

Erst als ich in den HNO Vorlesungen das Thema h\u00f6rte, griff ich das Angebot unseres damaligen Professors auf und machte selber eine Nasen OP.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Das machte dann doch ein Assistent mit einer damals \u00fcblichen Methode. Als meine Freunde mich in der Klinik besuchten, erkannten sie mich erst einmal nicht.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Der Kopf war stark geschwollen, blau und gr\u00fcn und ich sah grauenvoll aus. Das Ziehen der Tamponade machte mir seinerzeit mehr Angst als die Nasen-OP selbst.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Bis ich dann wieder auf den Beinen war, dauerte dann auch noch ein paar Wochen und die Semesterferien waren im Eimer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Gebracht hat der Eingriff auch nicht so viel, da vermutlich die medizinische Nachsorge<\/strong> erst sp\u00e4ter erfunden wurde (ironisch gemeint), die Scheidewand verbog sich <\/strong>wieder, was nicht das Ziel sein sollte.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Jahre sp\u00e4ter als HNO Arzt<\/h2>\r\n\r\n

Jahre sp\u00e4ter - ich war mittlerweile Facharzt f\u00fcr HNO<\/em> - sowie nach etlichen selbst durchgef\u00fchrten OPs<\/strong> und erneuten immer st\u00e4rker werdenden Beschwerden habe ich mich entschlossen das ganze so anzugehen, wie ich das selber auch bei meinen Patienten mache.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nach einer gr\u00fcndlichen Untersuchung<\/strong> und Abkl\u00e4rung evtl. Allergien<\/strong> wird ein Computertomogramm<\/strong> begutachtet, dass mir genau zeigt, wo das Problem anatomisch liegt und dann festgelegt ob und was genau operiert werden muss, um endlich wieder Luft zu bekommen. Gerne werden dabei auch die Muschel verkleinert <\/strong>und die Nebenh\u00f6hlen ges\u00e4ubert.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

So ein Eingriff kann dann sogar in \u00f6rtlicher Bet\u00e4ubung ( Lokalan\u00e4sthesie ) durchgef\u00fchrt werden, wenn nicht zu viel zu machen ist.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Aber im Allgemeinen \"schl\u00e4ft man ganz\" (Vollnarkose). Je nach Aufwand dauert das ganze 20 - 60 Minuten und zwar ohne Tamponade! Es sei denn man blutet mehr als sonst.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Deswegen Aspirin, Alkohol und andere Blut verd\u00fcnnende Stoffe vermeiden. Wenn dann die Gerinnung ok ist und der Blutdruck nicht erh\u00f6ht ist, bleibt der Eingriff sicher ohne Probleme.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Nur bei den Problemkandidaten legt man sicherheitshalber eine Tamponade f\u00fcr eine Nacht, damit es nicht zu einer starken Nachblutung kommt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Schn\u00e4uzen, Heben und Pressen,Sonnenbad, Alkoholkonsum und Sport sollten die n\u00e4chsten 2 - 3 Wochen unterbleiben , damit man so schnell wie m\u00f6glich ausheilt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Bei mir hatte ich einem guten Kollegen, sodass ich nach dem ambulanten Eingriff sogar am n\u00e4chsten Tag meinen Praxisumbau beaufsichtigen konnte.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Da staunten einige, aber das geht heutzutage auch gut. Minimal invasive Technik mit modernsten Hilfsmitteln machen es m\u00f6glich.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Fazit<\/h2>\r\n\r\n
