Chin correction

The chin section plays a very important role in the aesthetics of the face. Eyes, nose and mouth may produce a harmonious image, but a chin which is too small or receding makes the nose look bigger and the gaze of the person opposite will never focus on the beautiful eyes but on the nose.

A prominent chin can have a very harsh effect on the other soft features of the face. By contrast, a double chin gives the rest of the face an unproportional appearance.

In any case, by an operation on the chin, it is possible to bring the various elements of the face into harmony with each other. In connection with the removal of a bump from the nose, chin modelling can even use the patient’s own material.

In the case of a receding chin, the chin is built up through an invisible incision in the vestibule of the mouth, which may be carried out under local anaesthetic or a general anaesthetic. A custom-formed transplant is introduced into the incision or the patient’s own osseous material is used. The operation is carried out on an outpatient basis. The stitches dissolved by themselves and do not need to be removed. After the operation, a chin bandage is applied, which must be worn for around five days. In the initial weeks, only soft foods may be ingested so that no mechanical manipulation occurs.

The same guidelines apply in the case of chin abrasion, i.e. a reduction procedure.

Excess osseous material is removed here. Post-operative treatment is the same. The patient is socially presentable again after around a week.
