Scar removal

Scars, it is said, are the proof that a person is genuinely alive. Larger and smaller injuries leave behind their scars here and there, caused by gashes or small burns. Small, fine wounds generally heal in a few days and after a few weeks, not even a scar is visible. Larger injuries nevertheless often leave behind very unsightly scars which many find disturbing and anaesthetic. In addition, many scars proliferate and then thicken and become rubbery.

In this situation, a scar may be removed with the aid of surgery. Several methods of treatment are available. Scars may be injected with a medicine containing cortisone, which suppresses collagen formation and thereby prevents a rubbery scar formation. This method is only suitable however for fresh scars.

Other methods must evidently be used for older scars. The magic word here is dermabrasion. This methodology also offers several options. In dermabrasion, the upper skin layer may either be worn away with a fine diamond fraise or detached through chemical peeling. You can find more information on this under the “Dermabrasion” menu option.

For all patients, the result of scar removal is beautiful, smooth skin, in many cases after a single treatment.
